"Over 300,000 Americans suffer brain injuries a year. Don't be a statistic, wear your helmet. During my career the doctors fixed my body several times. Luckily I never hurt my head because you only get one chance with your brain. Wear a helmet."
-Picabo Street is one of America's most famous alpine ski racers and the most popular among kids. In 1998 she came back from a terrible knee injury to win an Olympic gold medal in Nagano. She's the only American - man or woman - to win a season-long World Cup downhill title, winning in 1995 and '96.

"It's a smart idea for kids to wear helmets. Stuff happens too fast and it could save them when they are out riding the slopes."
-Ross "The Boss" Powers got a snowboard from his mom as a youngster in Vermont and fell in love with the sport. After picking up an Olympic bronze medal in 1998 in snowboard halfpipe's Olympic debut in Nagano, he led a 1-2-3 USA sweep of the men's halfpipe in Salt Lake City with what many consider to be one of the best runs ever in the sport!-

Bode Miller
"When I was little, 6-years old, I got my first helmet. I've never had a more trusty or invaluable piece of equipment. Now that I'm racing and helmets are a requirement, it seems like I never go skiing without one. They're warm and comfortable, and they can save your life if you have an unlucky slip. When you see the pictures of the racers these days, one of the coolest parts are the lids. Some of the decorations are awesome."
-Bode Miller grew up in Franconia, NH and fell in love with the high-speed action of alpine ski racing as a child. He burst onto the international scene in 2002, with the best Olympic men's finish in over 20 years with two silver medals in Salt Lake City. Bode is noted by his calm, cool style and is considered one of the fastest racers on skis!-

"I always thought that helmets were not that cool and pretty pointless. But then our federation made us wear one, and now I absolutely love my helmet. It can make a difference and protect my head if I take a big spill. But my favorite part is now I can paint it and design to look however I want, unlike a hat that you can't change. You can make a helmet reflect your personality and let people know how cool you are."

"Make wearing a helmet a habit. My helmet is on the top of my checklist when I am getting packed up for a World Cup event. Accomplished skiers still catch an edge and fall sometimes. On the slopes you can't always count on the person beside or behind you being in control."

"I'm a strong believer in wearing helmets while skiing. I wear my Giro every time I head out. I'm not the only one, you'll see all the best athletes wearing helmets to protect their heads. It just makes good sense. The best helmets can keep you cool on a hot day, warm on a cold day and they're so light and comfortable you don't even know you have one on sometimes. Helmets are great on big powder days because you don't have to worry about losing your goggles when you take a spill. On a serious note, I lost a close friend of mine this winter on an epic powder day. MC was a real strong skier who charged everything. He was just cruising and unfortunately hit a rock under the snow and fell into a tree well. He wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries MC's death was a horrible tragedy. We all miss him very much. It's also a lesson to live life to the fullest, but also be smart and protect yourself. Who knows, a helmet could have saved his life. I'll be wearing mine." -First American to win the fabled Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbuehel, Austria-

Last season I had my first concussion but because I always wear my Burton helmet, I didn't get hurt as bad as I could have. The most important thing anyone can wear, is your helmet.

Gretchen Bleiler
I wear a helmet when I'm riding a halfpipe because I would rather not risk it. There are too many things that could go wrong, so why take a chance? It just makes sense to protect your head.
-A near-miss for the final spot on the 2002 Olympic team, beaten by her closest friend, was all but forgotten as halfpipe rider Gretchen Bleiler moved quickly beyond that disappointment and found almost unprecedented success. The Coloradoan nearly swept everything a year later, winning the Chevy Truck U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix, the U.S. Open and X Games, and repeated as Triple Crown champion...and, in the process, jump-started the invert revolution for female riders by being one of the first to land the first crippler 540 in competition.-
